Having a web site doesn't accomplish much if people don't visit it, and people won't visit it if they don't know about it!  Marketing your site is a key element in the success of the site.

Owners of web sites use a number of methods to advertise their web sites. We'll discuss a few of those methods, and you can pursue other methods through study of the links given in the Links page. The techniques we will discuss are techniques you should use if you are to have a popular site, but the techniques aren't sufficient to guarantee that your site will be popular.
